In saving love, God sent his one and only Son into this world, to give himself as a sacrifice for out sins. In thanksgiving, we respond by giving of ourselves through acts of kindness and love within the church, school, and community.

When we turn to God’s Word, we find in the lessons and parables of Jesus the examples of humble service we can provide to those around us in our church, school, and community. These are the acts we do out of love and thanksliving to our God who so richly bestows on us his love.

How can I serve, you might ask. Following is a list with which to begin, there are many, many opportunities to serve.

This list is really endless. How can you use your time and talents, and treasures in service to your Lord and Savior by serving others?

What is this all about?

Each student of Illinois Lutheran High School will need to have completed a minimum of five(5) hours of service per semester as part of the requirements for graduation. The service time will appear on the transcript.

Volunteer service projects are service done voluntarily outside the home and not for financial gain.

When you need a minimum of five hours, that does not mean you have to stop at five. Turn in a record of all the volunteering you do. Finally, you as an individual needs to take the responsibility to find your opportunities to offer Christian service to those around you. ILHS is not going to provide you each and every opportunity.

For each service activity a student participates in, he or she will need to complete a service project form. Please complete the form including the signature of the person for whom who did the project or the supervisor of the project. Incomplete forms will not be accepted. These should be turned into the Christian Service Coordinator (presently Mr. Becker).

If you are unsure as to whether or not an activity would be considered a volunteer service project, check with Christian Service Coordinator.
